Resources for Testing in Vista / IE7

In This Section

IWS is working with other units in CIT to help support developers who need to test, and possibly modify, their software for compatibility with Vista and IE7.

Generic Testing Plan

This document provides a starting point for creating and using a test plan for your application on a new system or browser. It lists the basic steps you should take, items to consider, and what a test plan should include.

Access to a Vista PC

IWS has a testing PC set up in CCC with Vista, Microsoft Office 2007, and Firefox 2. You will be able to reserve time on this machine through Oracle Calendar as soon as we get this set up; meanwhile, contact internal_vista_test@cornell.edu

The machine is locked with DeepFreeze, so software can be installed on it for testing, but upon reboot the computer will go back to its pristine initial configuration. You can log into it as a standard user, power user, or administrator.

We’re looking to add at least one more such computer to the IWS test suite over the next few weeks.

Testing Services

There’s a limited amount of staff availability for free testing of software under Vista. We don’t know yet how quickly this will be booked up, or whether, if demand is high, more will be made available.

IWS also has trained people available for all kinds of QA testing at our standard rate of $90 an hour ($95 starting July 1).
