Case Studies

Cornell.edu

This site reflects the pulse of the campus and serves as an essential reference for people both at Cornell and around the world. The site simply cannot go down. We use an “enterprise approach” to make sure that routine upgrades and maintenance are part of a closely monitored timetable. Our design and programming teams’ expertise allows us to predict and prepare for issues before they occur.

Always Growing

By design, the site is always growing, and it is integrated with sources outside of Cornell, including Google Search. Our experienced programming team understands what Cornellians want and need. As a result, the links between Cornell and the world appear seamless to site users.

Large Size, Many Stakeholders

The site’s size—and the number of stakeholders—were substantial challenges to our project team. This site touches everyone on campus and on satellite campuses, even those people who don’t see themselves as “mainstream Cornell”. Integrating wish lists and must-haves required project managers skilled in conflict management, knowledgeable about options, and dedicated to pursuing the best possible results.

IWS Support

Elements of the site, including the choice of photographs on the home page, are produced daily by IWS staff and by client staff members who have been trained by IWS. At the clients’ request, IWS handles ongoing support and development for the site.

Kudos

The site receives many compliments in the form of requests for duplication of site elements, and for answers to “how did you do that?”
